The story “Boy without a Flag” is about the narrator talking about how he did not stand for the Pledge of Allegiances. In the beginning of the story, he talks about how his teacher(Miss. Colon) has an affair with another teacher(Mr. Rios). In the middle of the story, he talks about how he had a dream to become a writer. In the end of the story, he talks about how he will not stand for the Pledge of Allegiances and gets send to the office.

The flag represents nothing to the narrator and he won’t stand for the flag at all. He thinks its stupid to stand for the flag and that he had reasons not to stand for the Pledge of Allegiances. The story say freedom is nothing in America and that people don’t really have freedom. For example, the narrator’s father thinks America is abusing Puerto Ricans.

What I would have done if I was in the narrator’s place is I will stand for the Pledge of Allegiances and will just not listen to my father from what he said. An advice that I would give the narrator would be to feel you are free in America and respect the flag and what people have done to make this country how it is today.

The narrator is not a good American because in the story, he won’t stand for the Pledge of Allegiances and he gets bad influence from his father that America is a bad country. The narrator did do the right thing because no matter what you do even if you don’t stand for the flag, you still have to respect it by sitting quietly and don’t disturb anyone who is respecting the flag. In the story, the narrator gets send out of class for not standing for the flag and gets sent to the office. I think the narrator doesn’t have an American Dream but he still has a dream to become a writer. In the story, he talks to his father about wanting to become a writer when he grows up.

What I think about the story overall is that it talks about you having your own freedom and that it is limited and not unlimited in life. I also think the story talks about many things that other people do to be themselves as an American. What I think that stood out the most in the story is the narrator really care about who he is and he don’t let anyone tell him that he can’t be what he wants.

Workplace

This issue was about people sending mails that contain political, religious or patriotic things to each other. A policy was made about this the day when these people got caught doing. Jonnie Hargis and Michelle Torre was the people who got caught sending mails that contain political, religious or patriotic things in it. Their reasons were they were sending emails to each other and other employees who had received the mail that Michelle sent. The library staff was opposed to the censorship because they were told not to wear their “I’m Proud to be an American Stickers” because they might offend foreign students at the school. This took play at the Young Research Library at UCLA. This policy happens the day when Hargis was suspended. The thing that actually happened in the case was you cannot send emails that contain political, religious or patriotic things in it. Jonnie was suspended for 5 days without pay. I disagree with what happen here because why would someone create a policy that forbids people to send emails that contain political, religious or patriotic things in it. I think this is very mean for someone to do so.

Miscellaneous

The issue was about a New York resident who was arrested for admiring Osama bin Laden and hanging out leaflets while standing on a street corner near the site of the former World Trade Center. A New York resident is challenged by this material because he was admiring someone who America hates and wants to kill. The New York resident opposed to the censorship. This took place in New York near the former World Trade Center. This happened on October 2001in New York. The thing that actually happened in the case was a New York resident was arrested for admiring Osama bin Laden. The New York resident was charged for disorderly conduct. I disagree with what happened here because people have freedom and rights to do what they like to do. People admired a lot of things that are offended by other people. I think that this was wrong to arrest a person who admired someone that America really hates.

To me, freedom is what I see that all Americans have in America. Freedom let us be peaceful and live a good life in America. It let us have our privacy and alone time by our self. Freedom does not mean that you can do what ever you what by using freedom for an excuse. Freedom only gives you a certain rules that you should do and not do. For example, people use freedom when they think that they are being bothered too much by like when police stop a person for no reason or someone is being called into court.

To me, it is more important for American to have personal freedom and not public security because if we have public security, they won’t be able to have freedom and time for themselves. This will make Americans mad and not happy. If American has personal freedom, they will have time to do more things that they like doing on their own and not have people interfered them on what they are doing. I think we should be able to do whatever we want as long as it does not directly harm someone else because that way it will make us happy and the other person no harm. For example, a person is smoking a cigarette and the other person moved away because they don’t want second hand smoke.

I am free to do whatever I want because I always go out and I really enjoy doing that. Sometimes I get stopped from going out because my parents won’t let me go out a lot. I only go out to play sports and do things that I know is good for me. The only things that stopped me from doing what I want to do are sometime my family. For example, when I come home from school and I’m about to go out with my friends to the park, my mom tells me that I can’ go out and have to stay home for the day.

I think it is not ok to ever break the law because it is wrong to do it and e will go to jail for breaking the law. For example, a drunk driver is driving home from a party and he is really drunk. He crashes to a tree and is still alive. Then he is arrested and sent to jail.

I think it is more important to stand up for what you believe because you know what you’re doing and the other person doesn’t know what you’re doing. Sometimes you have to stay out of trouble because it can become great consequences. For example, your friends are going to rob the bank and you are thinking about doing it too. You realize that its wrong to do it and you believed that if you get caught, you will be in great consequence. So you decide not to do it and let them do it.

The American Dream is what many people want in their life and have in their life. This dream can be like being rich, have a family, and have what other Americans have. The American Dream is what many people want in their life and have in their life. This dream can be like being rich, have a family, and have what other Americans have. The American Dream is to set goals for you to achieve in the future to get what u want in life. My American Dream is similar to many other Americans who just have the same dream as I do. We have similar dreams that we look forward to in the future. My American Dream is to have an education, family, and a happy life.

My family’s American Dream is to live a good life and have what other American have in their life. My family came from Thailand in the late 80s and since then they been having an American Dream to be like many other Americans. My dream is not different than my parents’ dream because when they came here to America, they didn’t have an education or a happy life. They struggle through many obstacles that were in their way. They worked really hard to see if one day their American Dream would come true.

America is not fulfilling the promise of the American Dream for everyone because many Americans stress out and struggle to have an American Dream in their life. I think Americans can reach their American Dream because if they worked really hard to reach their goals in life to have an American Dream. I think the American Dream is accessible to everyone because many Americans worked hard to achieve what they have set for their life to have an American Dream. I think all Americans have equal opportunities to reach the American Dream because they have rights in America to use to reach their American Dream. I think it is easier for some people to reach their American Dream than others because those who are able to reach their American Dream are able to have one and those who are not able to reach their American Dream are just too lazy to work for it. I do think it is easier for some people to achieve the American Dream than others because they worked really hard in life to reach their goals and have set goals to reach their American Dream. Some reasons it is easier for some people to reach the American Dream are by just being a happy person and living life as it is given to them because many Americans just are happy about what is given to them in their life to live it through.

The American Dream is limited to America because only Americans can reach it. The same dream can be reach in other countries like it is in America. The American Dream is still worth believing and pursuing because if many Americans still have belief for it to achieve it. I believe the American Dream still worth believing and pursuing because even if it is not happening, I’ll keep believing and pursuing through life to reach my American Dream.

I have been working to pursue my American Dream by getting through school and having an education and I can reach it if I tried harder. To reach my American Dream, I have my family to support my throughout my life, my friends who really are there for me, and myself who I have believe in to reach my American Dream. I think I can reach my American Dream because I have the potential to reach my American Dream and set goals to achieve. I do think I will be able to reach my American dream because I believe in myself and what I can do to reach my American Dream. I have set goals already and I will reach my American Dream.

In the literature, “Message from the Sky” by Fred Moramarco, was about victims and hostages who were calling to their love ones and telling them that their about to died. When I was reading the poem, I was thinking about many different things that popped up inside my mind. I thought about the words that they said to their love ones as I was reading their quotes. I also thought of how it feels to be in that person’s position that is about to die. The poem made me feel really sad because I thought of being in that person’s position and knows how it feel that I am about to die. This literature also made me feel really mad because those people who had died didn’t deserved to die. My favorite lined from the literature was when this guy named Brian Sweeney left a message for his love. The lined was “Hey Jules, it’s Brian, I’m on a plane and it’s hijacked and it doesn’t look good. I just wanted you to know I love you and I hope to see you again. If I don’t, please have fun in life and live your life the best you can. Know that I love you and no matter what, I’ll see you again.” I chose this line because I really have a strong connection to this line. I would have said the same things that he said to my love.

When I was 8, I was in class at Edison Elementary School in my 2nd grade classroom. My teacher who I really admired came to talk in front of my whole class. She told us about 911 that are happen while she was talking to us. She showed the news on TV and it was talking about the 911 situation that had happen. It was lived on the news while I was sitting in my classroom watching it with my own eyes. This made me feel really sad because I never saw nothing like that before in my life. I saw many things that happened. I saw people’s tears dropping and people running for their lives. When I saw the two towers collapsed, many ashes went into the air. This affected the air and people couldn’t breathe. They were running for their lives trying to get away from the falling towers. Many people had died in the 911 situation. When I got home that day, it was still on the news. My dad was watching it and he was talking to my mom about it. I knew that this had to be really important to the United States. I watched it and all it replayed the towers collapsing to the ground and people running. I realize what they were running from. I still remember seeing the news and saw that the towers had fallen all the way to the ground. The air fills with ashes of the burning towers. People with ashes covering their body and wearing masks to prevent breathing the ashes into their lungs.

If I was trapped in the building, I would react by saving myself and my buddies who were trapped with me. I know that if I tried, it wouldn’t even matter no more because I know that I cannot get out of this situation alive. The fire was below me and I couldn’t have done anything to save me or my friends. If I was trapped in the planes that was hijacked, I would have go and try to kill the terrorists and save myself. I would have called my parents and the women that I love in my life that I was about to died and I want them to know how much my love means to them. I would have said to my parents, “Hey, mom and dad, I am trapped in the plane. It was hijacked by terrorists and we are about to crashed. I love you both so much. I know without me no more, you guys will miss me. If I died, please help my wife take care of my kids. Thank you very much! Bye.”. I would call my love and said to her, “Hey honey, I called and I want you to take care of my kids. I love you with all my heart and I am going to die. My plane has been hijacked and I am about to crash to the building. I hope you will take care of my parents and my kids. I am really sorry. I wish that this didn’t happen. Remember, I will always love you. Bye.”. I would have said the same thing if I was trapped in the building. My life means everything to me and my parents. If I was in that situation, I know that without me, my parents won’t get to see their son no more. Today, I still remember about this event that had change our nations. This event made United States as it is today.
